Power400

High-performance charging system with integrated buffer storage

This project is supported by the European Union - European Regional Development Fund.

Cooperation partner

Technische Hochschule Lübeck, Custom Cells Itzehoe GmbH, Forschungs- und Entwicklungszentrum Fachhochschule Kiel GmbH and Netz Lübeck GmbH (as associated partner)

The challenge

Through the intelligent use of stationary and specially developed mobile storage systems with optimally matched properties, the integration of renewable sources into the energy supply network and the increased use of electric vehicles in conurbations is to be promoted in a sustainable and efficient manner.

The goal

The aim is to design charging stations in such a way that a large number of electric vehicles can be quickly charged at the same time without destabilizing the public power grid.

The solution

A maximum power of 400 kW is planned per charging station. A further focus is on the development of a battery technology installed in vehicles that enables rapid charging in less than ten minutes. This will drastically reduce the disadvantages associated with rapid charging in terms of battery life and safety.
